I've been feeling rather philosophical lately and I was wondering what the opinions of my fellow clan mates are.
My question is, I think, fairly simple. Are people basically good, bad, or indifferent? I'm not asking if they are inherently one of the above. I'm asking that, for the most part, are the majority of people one or another of these things.
For my part, I believe that people are basically good. I don't think that society would hold together even nearly as well as it does, and it's holding together I'm sure can be debated, if people were anything but basically decent and good people.

Good compared to what? their individual beliefs or religion? the laws at a given time? or just being courteous when someone's watching? I believe people are for the most part selfish and emotional. Not saying emotions are a bad thing but when mixed with a drug(weather it be caffeine or crack)it changes personalities. With that being said every human has emotions that they HAVE to go have on at least a weekly basis weather they like it or not. Then magnify that emotion with the drug they are on. Try to go all week just being happy or sad or whatever. It's impossible. The human body was made to go through these emotions. You have no choice. We're flawed or "human". If you do make it a whole week just being happy, then, good job...but I will feel sorry for the chumps around you the next week when you unleash all kinds of hell letting all your built up anger out. I also, believe people are 50% angrier when driving. So, what happens in the future when everyone is flying around with space rage all dang day? Now picturing a Jetsons episode? Me too? lol. Anyways, I think that most people think they are good. As long as its MOST society will survive. Are people decent? Only if you catch them on a decent day. I'm usually really happy at work all day because of all the anger I express from gaming with you guys at night. I thank you all for helping me keep my job all these years. (This is my opinion of a NORMAL person to person in society. Not pertaining to psychos or family members or long time friends.)

Well, when I say good, I mean interpersonal relationships and interactions. Most people are more likely to help than to harm, unless helping would put themselves in danger or harm them in some way. Being selfish isn't inherently a bad thing. It's what has helped is to survive as a species. Only when it is taken to an extreme does it become a problem for the individual and society.
Following laws in and of itself doesn't make someone a good person at their core, but in the end, does their own personal behavior matter when it has no effect on the society?
If someone thinks about murdering someone, what does it really matter so long as they don't follow through?
So, I suppose to me, good would be defined as either contributing to the benefit, or at the very least, not causing negative effects to society. Of course, I'm a sociology major, so I'm sure my views differ a bit than the average person. My ethics class was pretty convinced I had no morals lol.

I consider myself to be good. If you mean by behaviour, then yeah I'm good. never Jailed or charged and never been in trouble with Police. In fact what i work as, i help the police in various opportunities. I work my weekends ensuring people are safe and away from harms way. This being me not having a weekend off for over a year, so no social life on fridays or saturdays. No drink time, and definitely no drugs. My beliefs? Mmm dont think i bother about that stuff.
Nothing more.

Yes, but do you consider most people good, bad, or neutral for lack of a better term?

You say good, bad or indifferent; but what do we use as a yard stick to define what exactly is good or bad?

In your opinion. Your basis, whatever it is.

I think inherently people are good. It is the environment, what they learned (directly or indirectly) that makes people who they end being. However there are always exceptions to the rule, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
